The 37th International Symposium on Combustion was held in Dublin, Ireland. The conference took place in a purpose built national Convention Centre located within easy walking distances to hotels and venues in the city centre. The conference attracted a record number of delegates, over 1,700 as of the time of writing. In addition, the technical programme was expanded out to a record ten parallel sessions with some 650 oral presentations. The Symposium Programme Co-Chairs, Hai Wang and Heinz Pitsch, assembled an excellent programme including the Hottel Lecture, plenary lectures, topical reviews and industry discussions. It was an extremely busy and fruitful week.
A special effort was made to integrate the work-in-progress poster sessions into the mainstream of the conference so as to provide maximum interactions between presenters and their audience. This was an important aspect since it could lead to collaborative ventures in the future as well as providing feedback from the preliminary results on view.
